Can you share with us your journey to becoming the artist you are today, TAKASHI TSUSHIMA? How did your passion for art develop over time?

As a child, I dreamed of becoming a manga artist, and I immersed myself in drawing manga from an early age. While I enjoyed illustrating stories, I found that my true passion lay in the act of drawing itself. Constantly sketching and experimenting, I gradually developed a deep interest in the world of art.

Your artwork often features heartwarming scenes with cats and other animals. What inspires you to create these pieces?

I find my inspiration in the vibrant colors and unique shapes found in nature, particularly in plants and animals. Whether it's the grandeur of larger creatures or the intricate details of smaller ones, each living being possesses its own inherent beauty that deeply resonates with me.

Could you please share with us the concept behind the "Story of cats" series available at MADE IN NIHON?

The motif I draw is cats, but I use the forms of cats and other animals to express emotions and feelings that cannot be put into words. If I draw people as they are, their gestures and expressions will have a special meaning, so I want to avoid that. By borrowing the form of cats and other animals, I hope to convey various emotions that cannot be expressed in words to the hearts of the viewers.

Are there any specific themes or projects you're considering exploring in the future?

I don't have anything specific in mind, but as I continue to draw, I would like to draw motifs such as animals and plants that are deformed to the maximum extent possible, and create works that convey the various messages of life.

Thank you for your insights. Finally, would you like to share a message with those who are considering purchasing or have already purchased the "Story of cats" series

In my art, while I depict cats, what I truly aim to capture is the essence of 'life,' encompassing both cat companions and human experiences alike. It is my sincere hope that through engaging with this series, you may discover a glimpse of the wonder in the various lives surrounding you, enriching your daily life.
