An accessory box inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s masterpiece, "Fine Wind, Clear Morning" (Red Fuji).
"Red Fuji" refers to the majestic sight of Mount Fuji dyed crimson by the early morning sun. This is an exceptionally rare phenomenon, occurring only under specific conditions during the transition from summer to autumn when the morning air is perfectly clear.
In Japan, Red Fuji has long been cherished as a symbol of good fortune. This is due to the combination of two auspicious elements:
The Power of the Color Red
Since ancient times, red has been believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. Consequently, Red Fuji is said to offer protection from misfortune and aid in the fulfillment of one’s wishes.
The Shape of "Eight" (Suehirogari)
Mount Fuji gracefully widens from its peak to its base, resembling the kanji character for eight (八). This "spreading" shape is known as "suehirogari," symbolizing prosperity for future generations, business success, and continued development.
The design captures a breathtaking scene: Fuji glowing red in the morning breeze while contrasting beautifully with the lush green forest below—a view that truly evokes the changing seasons. The elegant shimmer of Kanazawa gold leaf adds a sophisticated touch, making this piece perfect not only for storing jewelry and small items but also as a vibrant interior accent.
Each item is meticulously handcrafted, making it a highly appreciated gift for art enthusiasts or a wonderful souvenir for those traveling from abroad.Enjoy the presence of world-class art in your everyday life.
“Fine Wind, Clear Morning” (Gaifu Kaisei)
The term Gaifu refers to a gentle southerly wind. This masterpiece by Katsushika Hokusai, popularly known as "Red Fuji," depicts the phenomenon where Mount Fuji is dyed a deep crimson by the rays of the early morning sun. This rare sight typically occurs from late summer to early autumn.
The artwork features a magnificent color contrast between the mountain and the lush, green sea of trees at its base. Details such as the drifting cirrocumulus clouds and the lingering snow on the summit are characteristic of this specific season, capturing a fleeting moment in the ever-changing face of Mount Fuji.
