About Wataru Hatano Washi maker
A handmade paper artist based in Ayabe, Kyoto Prefecture. While learning to oil paint in college, he started his path to the paper-making. Though he produces a large range of work including paper boxes, furniture, home decoration, and artwork, they are made from paper and in a design that values the texture of paper. His work that’s being coloredin scratchy texture enable us to experience the charm of paper much more.
